according to the news, the legendary CBGBs is closing this weekend after 32 blood, sweat and rock and roll infused years. it frustrates me to no avail since the reported back rent due on the joint is merely $91,000. hello, hilly kristal...don't you think that you could have easily thrown a few "save cb's" concerts and RAISED that drop in the bucket that would have saved this punk-rock institution? i'm sure that there are myriads of bands, both signed and unsigned, famous and infamous and just starting out, that would have donated their time and energy to be part of such a historical salvation. but whatever. the doors are slated to close this sunday, october 15th, with the also-legendary patti smith. says lou reed of this unfortunate event, "CBGB's changed the face of rock in New York City and gave countless bands opportunities they might never have had ... to be seen and heard ... at the palace of punk.It will be sorely missed if it does in fact go into the ether of memories."

and here is a look back on the memories that our personal favorite, echo station, have had @ the iconic site...we've spent countless nights in the urban-decay filled rooms, and no one will forget those bathrooms...our memories are burned in our minds, and we will never forget...too bad they all did...
