vi: my first order of business...why the name 'lady jaded?'
lj: i'm not going to lie to you. even though i will lie. if necessary. but for this question, its not. once in a magazine they refered to david pirner of soul asylum as 'sir jaded.' and since i was in love with him and wanted to take him to disney world, i became lady jaded. well, not me alone. my best friend and i became lady jaded. it was our band.
vi: band? i didn't realize you were in a band. what instrument do you play?
lj: guitar. well, i don't really play guitar. but in the band, i did. or i would have. but i don't.
vi: i see.
lj: we were originally called lace. very 80s metal. but we never learned how to play.
we would have been bigger than the donnas. if they were big.
vi: why blogging? why now?
lj: i used to have a zine called draconian sunshine. have you ever heard of it?
vi: no. was it good?
lj: not really. but i loved it. it was my baby. my writing teacher used to tell us to murder our babies. but i never felt that way.
vi: murder your babies?!
lj: our work. our writing. critically look at them and tear them apart. i don't do that. i go with poetic justice. i don't spell right. i don't use correct grammar. mrs. lovelock spoiled all that for me.
vi: who is mrs. lovelock?
lj: my 7th and 8th grade english teacher. she used to make us diagram sentences. sentence after sentence after sentence.
vi: oh. so you decided to blog...
lj: oh yea. because i sometimes have the insatiable need to write and have things be read. even though i never put my actual writing on here.
vi: why not?
lj: in case there's a writing poacher out there trying to steal my words. my stories are sometimes hella good. at least i think so.
vi: i heard that you met roger from less than jake.
lj: where did you hear that!?!
vi: your blog.
lj: oh yea.
vi: how was that?
lj: oh you know. good and stuff.
vi: is it true that deron miller of cKy saved your life?
lj: oh is it ever! when we went to see them in boston in december of this year, my husband and 2 sisters went to drink @ some bar with chad, matt and jess, but i stayed back, in a tank top, in the snow, waiting for deron to come outside. because i couldn't bear the thought of NOT seeing him if he was to come out. i think i saw a flannel arm, but i am not sure...anyway, later that evening, my drunkass sister flipped out and we had to drive home. or rather, I had to drive home. due to the fact that it was 3am, and my husband had work the next day, and my sister (not the one who flipped out) was drunk. since she had been skipping down the streets of boston with chad i ginsberg on her arm. so yea, if i hadn't obsessively stalked the deron, i would NEVER have been able to make it home. plus, i love him.
vi: your husband is the bassist for echo station, right?
lj: he sure is! echo station is actually playing 2 upcoming shows. one is a halloween treat! october 27th @ paulie's bar and grill in elmsford. we're all dressing up. its a traditional echo station thing. one year, andy was a cheerleader, with my glittery e/s t -shirt and big balloon boobies and pigtails. this was when he had long sexy hair. last year we had a party, and it was the most fantastic halloweeny festival known to mankind. it was terrifying! we had the video from "the ring" projected on the wall and it played over and over and over and it was so great. of course, 2/4 of echo station ended up out of commision if you know what i mean. but this year will be great. especially since we don't have to really throw a party so much as show up dressed and ready to go!
vi: what are you going as?
lj: no clue. i wanted to do KISS w/andy, becky and marky, but mark is a douche when it comes to dressing like gene simmons. plus i think andy is doing a top secret costume with e/s.
vi: what is the other upcoming e/s show?
lj: ah. well. that's the infamous "Let's Go Steady, Debbie!" show...it is cmj weekend, in brooklyn, and the date is tentatively november 3rd. however, i do not know details. it may be invite only. in which case, lady jaded BETTER be invited. but i hear some killer other bands will be playing as well. so i'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best. i hope to meet mark spitz too.
